Syd Bolton

Hi friend, I'm Syd Bolton, former collegiate pitcher and current collegiate pitching coach. I offer fastpitch softball pitching lessons to girls age 9+ in the Webster, New York and surrounding areas. I'm thrilled to be considered to help you along your pitching journey.

Born and raised in the Rochester, NY area, I've spent the past 10+ years dedicated to pitching, a passion that's shaped much of my life. The lessons I learned through softball have helped me achieve everything I've wanted in my "adult" life, and more.

Pitching taught me resilience, dedication, diligence, commitment, and how to be a team player, among other things. I wouldn't be the person I am today without it.

I look forward to instilling these same values in my students and athletes, helping them realize their potential and navigate their own paths to success.

At the end of my playing career, I knew I wanted to remain in the sport and help others grow, so I began to turn my passion from a hobby into a business. Within a few weeks, I had dozens of individual students working with me.

Helping young athletes develop their skills and love for the game is now my greatest passion.

My Background

I've always loved working with kids. I recently graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a major in Adolescent Education and English. While at Geneseo, I proudly pitched for the school's award winning softball team, which was an incredible experience that included winning two SUNYAC championships alongside my teammates.

In 2024-2025 I was an assistant softball coach at St. John Fisher University where I was able to help their amazing pitching staff achieve record-setting results. This fall, I will begin my career as a full-time high school English teacher in the Rush-Henrietta school district.

When I'm not working and coaching, I love cheering on the Baltimore Orioles and Buffalo Bills, diving into a good book, and spending time with my amazing family and friends who have supported me every step of the way.

I look forward to working with the next generation of softball pitchers! I hope you'll be one of them.

My Softball Story

My softball pitching journey began on a dirt field in Webster, NY. I took the field in a pair of shorts, a club tee shirt, and my favorite striped socks.

With dedication, practice and a lot of hard work and mentors and leaders to guide me, I was able to make the sport I love into not only a fun experience, but a career.

Here's a bit more about my journey so far...

The Year That Wasn't

Sadly, like so many others, I lost the opportunity to play during my senior year of high school due to covid. Nonetheless, I was proudly named to the Section V Wishlist of things that should've happened that season.

AGR Honors

So many talented players have come through our area. I was honored to have been considered among them as I was named the All Greater Rochester (AGR) Team in 2019.

I was also chosen as an Honorable Mention for the highly prestigious AGR 2010-2019 Softball Team of the Decade.

Section V Scholarships

I was humbled and elated to have been chosen as the 2020 recipient of the Section V softball scholarship. Section V is loaded with talent across 12 different counties Allegany, Cayuga, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.

I also received the Kelsey Annese Memorial Scholarship Award and the Adrienne Grishaber Memorial Award.

Awards Season

During my high school playing career I received several notable accolades. In addition to being selected to the 2019 AGR team, I was also named to the All-Tournament Team, the All-County Team, the All-State Team.

Collegiate Career

SUNY Geneseo is well known as a D3 powerhouse in softball. When I transferred from SUNY Brockport to Geneseo after my freshman year, my own youth pitching coach, Dave Sylvester, became my head coach in college. Under his guidance, my team and I were able to win the SUNYAC (State University of New York Athletic Conference) champions for two years in a row.

Travel Ball Career

I began my playing career locally with the Webster Xtreme. I moved on to play with the Monroe Blazers travel organization. After a successful season, I was recruited to play for the Rochester Lady Lions Showcase team. We traveled the east coast challenging ourselves in competitive tournaments. I finished my travel career playing for the Easton, Smash It Sports Showcase Team. We not only won tournament after tournament, I was lucky enough to make lifelong friends in the process.

College Coaching Career

For the 2024-2025 season, I was an assistant coach for the St. John Fisher University Cardinals and was honored to be named as part of the Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year. Under head coach Bari Mance, we led St. John Fisher to an 18-4 mark in league play and hosted the E8 Championship Tournament. We finished as the 2025 Empire 8 Conference Tournament runner-up, and were 29-15 overall. Our very own Ainsley Evanetski was named E8 Pitcher of the Year.
